URTICARIA AND ANGIOEDEMA

URTICARIA
1. Frequent disease
2. Heterogenous group of disease
3. Decrease Quality of Life
  • Central swelling of variable size surrounded by reflex erythema
  • Associated itching or, sometime, burning sensation.
  • A fleeting nature, with the skin returning to its normal appearance, usually 1 - 24 h



 


ARGIOEGEMA
  • A sudden pronounced swelling of the lower dermis and subcutis (facial - periorbital area)
  • Frequent involvement below mucous membranes
  • Sometimes pain rather than itching
  • Resulution is slower and can take up to 72 h
